HANDICAPPED BOWLING RULES
effective
September 1st, 2006
In an effort to make Games4Fun more competive & enjoyable for
everyone and since we are a MIXED league, we will begin
giving players a Bowling handicap in POGO Bowl based on handicap
rules set by WIBC/ABC/YABA bowling leagues. Handicapping means of
placing bowlers and/or teams with varying degrees of skill on as
equitable a basis as possible for their competition against each
other. We will be handicapping at 100% of 250.
(A player with a higher average of 250 will have a NEGATIVE
handicap).
heres how it works:
The league sets a scratch figure higher than any bowler in the league (250 in Games4Fun) so that everyone recieves a handicap. Handicaps are calculated by the formula (250-AVERAGE)*100%.
| Actual Average | Handicap 100% of 250 | |
| Kathy | 130 | (250-130)*100% = 120 |
| Linda | 140 | (250-140)*100% = 110 |
| Ashley | 125 | (250-125)*100% = 125 |
| Keith | 135 | (250-135)*100% = 115 |
| Ed | 170 | (250-170)*100% = 80 |
Using 100%, the game becomes a MOST PINS
OVER AVERAGE contest. These Handicapping rules are set by the
WIBC (World Indoor Bowling Council), ABC (American Bowling
Congress), YABA (Young American Bowling Alliance).
The handicap is than added to the score the player actually
bowls. High score wins.
